5 things to consider when hiring a fencing contractor.

Hiring a fencing contractor isn't just about going with the cheapest quote you can find on the internet. While it's true that cheaper rates might work for some people, it's also true that cheap prices come at a premium. In other words, you'll probably get what you pay for when hiring a fencing contractor. That’s why we’ve put together this post on five things to consider before choosing which company and project to invest in.

The first thing I want to discuss is the different levels of fencing you can obtain from a fencing contractor. There are two main types of fencing: chain-link fencing, and vinyl fencing. Chain-link fencing is more affordable, but isn't as durable as vinyl fence. If you're only planning on having your fence up for a few years, chain-link will be fine. Otherwise, it's best to look into vinyl fence. Vinyl is more expensive, but will hold up way longer than chain link.

The next thing to consider is whether you want the fence to be a solid color or if you want it to have a pattern. Solid color, of course, will be more affordable. Patterns, such as wood grain or metal stamping, will cost more, but will look much better if done well. Keep in mind that if you go with a pattern on your fencing, don't expect it to last as long as solid color fencing would.

You also need to consider how high your fence needs to be. The highest you should get is eight feet, so you don't have to worry about over- building. Fences under 6 feet will have a more difficult time supporting any weight that might build up on top of it. That's why it's best to go with more than 6 feet for the most solid support.

Don't forget about the cost of maintenance. It's important to know what the ongoing costs of your fence are, because if you underestimate it, you may have to come up with more money. Maintenance costs can be pretty high, especially if there are trees around the fence that need trimming every year. There are lots of contractors out there to choose from, so don't be afraid to look around and do your research. As we've mentioned above, cheaper isn't always better. It's best to find a company that offers quality work for a decent price.
